According to Pública/Intercept, on October 7, 2015 at 8:42 a.m. Dallagnol shared with Vladimir Aras, in a private chat, an article critical of the American investigation and wrote that it was necessary to think about the press line for when the news of a US$1.6 bn fine came; Aras replied that it was expected. The report notes that in August 2015 Reuters had published an amount for a possible fine from an internal Petrobras source, and the company denied it.

Limitations: Message attributed by a report. The US$1.6 bn amount is what appears in the message; the final fine was different (fonte).

According to Pública, on October 8, 2015, in the chat 'FT MPF Curitiba 2', Dallagnol wrote that the day before the task force had talked with the Americans about 'assets sharing' of the fine and the forfeiture linked to their action against Petrobras, with 'some positive prospect'; he proposed that someone study destinations for the funds (a fund, anti-corruption organizations, health, a diffuse rights fund, among others), in a composition of five destinations. Roberson Pozzobon volunteered for the study, with support from Orlando Martello and Antonio Carlos Welter. Also on October 8, Aras commented in a private chat on the idea, which he attributed to prosecutor Januário Paludo, of dividing the fine between Brazil and the U.S., and on the signal that supposedly came from Patrick Stokes that Brazil could keep a quarter.

Limitations: The conversation with the Americans about assets sharing is placed on October 7 ('yesterday') by the October 8 message. The report says the topic 'had been on the table since the first mission'. The 'quarter' comes from Aras's message ('if Patrick Stokes gave a positive signal'), with no confirmation from the American side. No official document.

According to Pública, on November 4, 2015 Dallagnol asked Pozzobon for time for the proposal on the destination of the 'assets sharing' money and summarized to Aras, in a private chat, the day's conversation with the Americans: Patrick Stokes had supposedly offered three alternatives, among them returning the money for 'application in anti-corruption programs'; Dallagnol reported that the Americans feared setting a precedent and returning money they believed would be diverted.

Limitations: The DOJ's position comes only from Dallagnol's summary in the messages; not confirmed by an American source.

According to a Lava Jato document to the STF described by Pública, the PGR was only informed of the possibility of 'fines or forfeitures of very High value' against Petrobras in an official letter of November 30, 2015, more than a month after the first talks; on that basis, the PGR allowed the prosecutors to 'make efforts in international contacts' so that the funds would revert to Brazil. The same letter, according to the report, records that on April 14, 2016 there was a preliminary position that at least 60% could stay with Brazil; in August 2017, according to the chats, the DOJ communicated 80%.

Limitations: Letter to the STF not examined. The September 26, 2018 agreement and the foundation are in Foundation with funds from the Petrobras–DOJ agreement (ADPF 568) and fonte; not reproduced here.

According to Pública, on December 17, 2015 Dallagnol explained to Aras that they had 'held back' until then because they were unsure whether they would make things easier for the Americans and because they wanted to negotiate 'assets sharing'. The report adds that the head of Lava Jato even contemplated advising the cooperating witnesses not to cooperate with American justice, and refers to another article to say that this stance was never adopted.

Limitations: The statement that the stance 'was never adopted' is the report's.

The task force's response to Pública (published in the report): the MPF always understood that Petrobras was a victim and took that understanding to the foreign authorities; it did not take part in Petrobras's decision to cooperate with the Americans; it always showed concern that the fine return to Brazil; there were analyses of destinations; Lava Jato prosecutors did not give paid lectures to anti-corruption organizations; 'even if supposed messages were authentic, there would be no conflict of interest'; regarding Alexandre de Moraes's decision, the discussion would become moot.

Limitations: Institutional response; no individual statement by Dallagnol in the article. The foundation and messages about an events company are in the record Foundation with funds from the Petrobras–DOJ agreement (ADPF 568).

Pública reports that on September 26, 2018 Petrobras signed an agreement with the DOJ (amount written in the report as 'US$862,560 million'), with 80% of the amount (US$682,560 million, or R$2.5 bn, according to the report) sent to Brazil and deposited at Caixa Econômica Federal.

Limitations: Amounts with a formatting error in the report ('US$862,560 million' probably US$862.56 million); the 2025 Pública piece cites US$853 million for the fine. Do not use as a value: check the primary document. See fonte.

According to Pública (2020), on January 6, 2016 Dallagnol asked Aras whether it would be appropriate to call the DRCI for the first part of a meeting with the SEC on 'policy issues', which could involve assets sharing; on January 7 Aras replied that he thought it best not to call the DRCI 'now', so as not to lose negotiating positions, but that he would consult Saadi.

Limitations: The 2020 report does not say whether the 'meeting with the SEC' is the one of January 28-29, 2016; the coincidence of topic and period is an inference of this version of the collection, not of the source.
