The project
About the project
LAVAJATO.ORG is a document portal on Operation Lava Jato. The question that organizes it is how much the operation recovered and how much the way it was conducted cost the country — in money, in output and in institutions. It does not depend on a conviction to record facts of public interest, and it does not treat allegation as fact.
What the portal does not do
- It does not invent quotations or put paraphrases in quotation marks.
- It does not add up amounts of different natures or subtract costs from recoveries.
- It does not attribute the entire recession or every corporate crisis to the operation.
- It does not use a group photograph or presence at an event as proof of wrongdoing.
- It does not publish protected personal data (documents, addresses, phone numbers, health information).
How artificial intelligence is used
The research, the extraction of evidence and the writing of this version were done with the help of Claude Code, from Anthropic, working on open public documents. The base figures (the DIEESE study and Petrobras's 2014 financial statements) were checked against the originals, including the images of the tables. AI agents make mistakes: that is why each item shows the source and the exact location, no item is marked as reviewed by AI, and the version published on October 24, 2026 went through the editorial review of the person responsible for the project.

Anyone mentioned may send a reply or clarification; it will be published on the corresponding profile, with date. The contact channel will be announced before the portal is published.
Photo credits
We only use real photos with a free license, preferably official portraits (Senate, Chamber of Deputies, STF, Planalto, Agência Brasil). Event photos were cropped to show only the person identified in the caption. Those without a free photo appear without one.
