Private activities: Moro at Alvarez & Marsal and Dallagnol's speaking engagements

Sergio Moro · Deltan Dallagnol · Lucas Furtado · Bruno Dantas

Moro was hired in December 2020 by the consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal, which acted as judicial administrator in Odebrecht's reorganization. The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Federal Court of Accounts (MPTCU) (deputy prosecutor Lucas Furtado) asked for an inquiry into a possible conflict of interest; on January 28, 2022 Moro said he had received US$45 thousand per month, and on January 31, 2022 the MPTCU asked for the case to be closed for loss of purpose, with referral to the Federal Revenue Service. Dallagnol: the National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office (CNMP) considered the speaking engagements lawful (2017) and, in 2019, messages attributed to him and released by the Intercept suggested a plan for an events company; the entry also covers the disciplinary inquiry that followed.

Status as of October 24, 2026: We did not find in open sources a Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) decision on the merits of the inquiry involving Moro and Alvarez & Marsal; only the opinion of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the TCU (January 31, 2022, deputy prosecutor Lucas Furtado), which asked for the case to be closed for loss of purpose and referred to the Federal Revenue Service; the rapporteur's decision was not located. On Dallagnol's speaking engagements, the National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office (CNMP) considered them lawful in 2017; the reopening of the inquiry in 2019 over leaked messages had no outcome located. We did not find the total amount of speaking fees beyond the estimate found in a message attributed to him (about R$400 thousand in the previous year, according to a report).

Deputy Prosecutor Lucas Furtado, of the Public Prosecutor's Office before the TCU, who had prompted the investigation of an alleged conflict of interest, asked on January 31, 2022 that rapporteur Bruno Dantas close the case for loss of purpose after Moro disclosed the amounts, and that the conclusions be sent to the Federal Revenue Service.

On November 28, 2017 the CNMP unanimously denied an appeal by federal deputies Paulo Pimenta and Wadih Nemer (spelling on the CNMP page) against the closing of a complaint about Dallagnol's lectures, finding that lectures fall within the teaching permitted to members of the public prosecutor's office, that he did not deal with confidential matters, and that most of the money went to philanthropy.
