CNMP sanctions and disciplinary proceedings against Dallagnol

Deltan Dallagnol · Renan Calheiros · Kátia Abreu · Diogo Castor de Mattos

The CNMP imposed two disciplinary sanctions on Dallagnol: a warning (November 26, 2019, PAD 1.00898/2018-99, for criticism of STF justices on CBN radio, 8 to 3) and a censure (September 8, 2020, PAD 1.00982/2019-48, for tweets against the election of Renan Calheiros to the Senate, by majority). Other proceedings were closed, expired under the statute of limitations, or were not opened: the PowerPoint one (statute of limitations, 2020), the lectures one (closed, 2017), and the one on the content of the leaked messages (closed by the inspector in June 27, 2019). Requests for his removal and for his removal from the coordination of the task force did not succeed in the sources consulted (precautionary removal denied by 12 to 0 in September 2019; the 2020 requests were suspended by Celso de Mello and became moot, with no result located). The PAD over the Lava Jato billboard was opened against federal prosecutor Diogo Castor de Mattos, not against Dallagnol.

Status as of October 24, 2026: Dallagnol left the MPF in November 2021, with both sanctions (warning and censure) already imposed. The TSE, in 2023, cited 15 proceedings pending at the CNMP at the time of his resignation (see Entry into politics: Dallagnol removed by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in 2023, the 2026 candidacy, and Moro's outcome at the Superior Electoral Court (TSE)). In open sources we did not locate the final outcome of the request for his removal by Kátia Abreu (PP 1.00723/2019-53, according to a search result that was not opened) or the reopening, in August 2019, of the inquiry into the messages; the outcome of the billboard PAD was also not located. On August 17, 2020, Justice Fux (STF) suspended the use of the 2019 warning as a prior record, according to Gazeta do Povo; scope and outcome not verified.
